Hello Mobians!

Sorry for being inactive for so long! Here's some updates.

Stuff tagged [QSL] are changes to the underlying QSL (Quest Solaer Library).

Lite version

Twisted Mobius is planned to offer a Lite version and a full version, both free. The Lite version not only forbids all sexual interactions with specific characters, but excises sexual data from them in the game code to avoid legally endangering players who live in idiotic jurisdictions. See HELP LITE VERSION ingame for more information.

Itch.io, and most other foreseeable hosts for Twisted Mobius, will only be receiving the Lite version from here on out as per their Terms of Service.

The plans for the game never included anything important contingent upon sexual relationships with these affected characters, so the core gameplay will not be affected.

General changes

  • [QSL] Preliminary work is underway to add openable/closable panels to the game interface. This will make a lot of gameplay systems way more intuitive.
  • The title card has been updated with a depiction of "Pruria". People savvy to my artwork might notice something is off about this depiction.
  • The "Wait!" introductory text has been rewritten.
  • The Lite version of the game alerts the player to this fact when beginning at the Empire City docks and advises the player to check HELP LITE VERSION.
  • The following help topics are now available:
    • [QSL] identification
    • lite version
    • nolite characters
    • [QSL] Most commands such as "go", though only a few actually have pages written
  • [QSL] The HELP [TOPIC] command actually works now, to facilitate the above. Game commands can now be marked with various attributes to exclude them from help files for various reasons such as being dummied out or being debug commands, preventing them from clogging up searches.
  • Certain characters have been tagged as "NoLite". HELP NOLITE CHARACTERS will display a list of all NoLite characters. Note this may include characters who aren't actually implemented in the game world yet.
  • NoLite characters have had all sexual data fully excised from their character objects; this necessitated making new object classes or changing existing ones so that they did not inherit any such data. This is to avoid a Hot Coffee scenario for players who would otherwise be legally endangered by downloading the game.
  • In the process of updating object classes, winged characters will now actually have wings as an anatomical area. (They formerly differed from non-winged characters only in limitations on what body armor they could wear, and no existing body armor made use of this limitation.)
  • [QSL] There are now default responses for attempting to throw things at other things, and special responses for throwing certain things at certain other things.
  • [QSL] The mechanics of anatomy sizes have been altered. Some characters may see minor changes to their apparent dimensions.
  • The succubus's look-at description has been slightly altered.
  • The battle with the succubus now reminds the player every round that the combat is not done and so neither is the tutorial.
  • [QSL] To facilitate the above, "each turn" in combat can now recognize which combatant's turn it is.
  • [QSL] Basic support is in to tag things. Characters, items, etc. can be tagged.
  • [QSL] Some items now cannot be dropped.
  • The 0.0.8 changelog states that a solution board was added to the Aptitude Test Chamber, keeping track of found solutions to the Smarty Pants coin. This board was partially coded and added to the game data but not fully implemented. Now it is, though only one solution can be found per playthrough at the moment.
  • The broken sword/spear/hammer can no longer be dropped, and if you manage to do that somehow you can now take them again.
  • Fuchsia Hill's Adventure Field will now inform the player of the REST command after the first time damage has been taken.
  • The fox girl being harassed by a Moto Bug now has a name color.

Bug fixes

  • The REST command, as a placeholder until time is implemented, is supposed to just fully heal the player party when used in an Adventure room. It now actually does so.
  • Enemy names should now display properly in the "... attacks!" notice at the start of combat.
  • When meeting Sticks, she finally carries a blackened boomerang with a colored name, and not "a blackened a boomerang" without a colored name. Probably. Might break again in the future for all I know.

Known issues

  • Using an item by itself, when that item is meant to be used on something specific, produces "You can't use it." These items should have flavor text that say pretty much anything other than that.
  • Due to changes to the anatomy system, some characters may have bugs / errors when looking at them.
  • The bank does not appear to be working. Cool!

Major goals

  • Implement panels to game interface
  • Implement the supporter track for upcoming major builds
  • Figure out why the healing functions lag so bad and fix it
  • Finalize attribute format and implement a save / load system
  • Finish Talent implementation; allow some Talents to retrieve Smartypants Coin with no complications
  • The player should be able to get rid of or store the Smartypants Coin and the various items used to get it
  • Implement gaining rings, scrap metal, or other drops from enemies
