Hello dreamers!

This game has been sitting around for two years collecting dust. I've decided, even if it's still not even half done, to show it to all y'all and eventually finish it up off-season.


Intended game flow

  1. Intro quest
  2. Solve the puzzles of Dasher's fellow Saints to retrieve the gifts entrusted to them (can be done in any order)
    1. Dancer's quest / Step Puzzle
    2. Prancer's quest / Mannequin Puzzle
    3. Vixen's quest / Dinner Puzzle
    4. Comet's quest / Kitchen Puzzle
    5. Cupid's quest / Bell Puzzle
    6. Donner's quest / Waterworks Puzzle
    7. Blitzen's quest / Lightning Puzzle
    8. Twins' quest / Mirror Puzzle
  3. Solve Postmaster's Puzzle to retrieve final gift (the one meant for Dasher)
  4. Epilogue

Complete

  • Intro quest
    • Complete it once to learn how to skip it

Functional

  • Donner's patrol route appears to be working (he walks in a figure 8 around and through the village square)
  • Hint birb
  • Dancer's quest
    • Means of "finding the pest" is a placeholder so as not to hold up developing Step Puzzle
  • Cupid's quest
    • Intended means of completing Bell Puzzle may be too obtuse
    • Annoying to input Bell Puzzle solution
  • Cupid can be asked about the other Saints, but basically no one else can
  • Donner's quest
    • Guard barracks themselves are incomplete but quest is playable
  • Several optional Codex entries ("what is [topic]" etc.) for players who care about lore & setting
  • Many flavor texts and Easter eggs

Partially implemented

  • Vixen's quest
    • Cannot proceed after speaking with valet
  • Comet's quest
    • Cannot proceed after speaking with aide
  • Blitzen's quest
    • Cannot proceed after speaking with Blitzen
  • Twins' quest
    • Site of Mirror Puzzle is decided, but cannot be entered at this time
  • Epilogue content, cannot be reached without debug mode

Known issues

  • The snowy forest background is a placeholder. An original graphic will be added at a later date
  • The obnoxious bright blue header on the top of the content pane will be removed as soon as I figure out how to do that
  • When completing the intro, but not when skipping it, the description of Dasher's bedroom shows twice
  • Not every character has all of their ask topics implemented
  • Many characters are described as naked. Only the two sitting in the hot spring are supposed to be
  • Not all scenery mentioned in rooms has a description and some rooms do not mention much scenery. As the game relies on examining everything in the room, it's paramount that doing so is rewarded & encouraged
  • Some rooms are missing descriptions, including not listing exits (but using said exits will work)
  • Some character or place names show up as "NULL_NAME" in specific contexts
  • Cupid's quest is not recognized as completed once the gift is taken
